Master Kathy Hook

The Clubs Chief Instructor, Kathy Hook, has been involved in Taekwondo since 1981 and her Taekwondo resume speaks for itself. Kathy is the highest graded British women having achieved her 6th Dan in April 2007.

Kathy has represented Great Britain in every major Championships and has won medals in World Championships, World Cups, European Championships and Europa Cups. She was the first British woman to win a World Championships medal, taking bronze in Athens in 1991. Altogether she has competed in 5 World Championships, more than any other British player. In her last Worlds, in 1997 in Hong Kong , Kathy reached the quarter final stage where she narrowly lost to the eventual Gold Medallist. She has won Gold medals at every major open in Europe – Dutch Open (once), Belgium Open (three times), Austrian Open (twice), Spanish Open (once), Italian Open (once) and the Park Pokal (8 times). Her record is one to be matched by very few British players.
